I’ve been fascinated with books since I was a child. I finally became a children’s book illustrator at the age of 39. My long-time friend, John Mitchell suggested we create a Children’s History of Michigan. It seemed like a great idea at the time. Little did we know of the challenges and opportunities that would come our way for taking a step in this new direction. From the start, it’s been our goal to bring the history of Michigan and the Great Lakes Region to life for children, in a colorful and interesting way. It gives us great pleasure to know that our books are being used in schools, libraries and homes throughout the region. Published by Suttons Bay Publications, these books are thoroughly researched, non-fiction, hardbound, classroom-proven teaching tools.
